Joel responded, “Get up; we’re leaving. Let’s go.”
Sitting down emphatically, Ellie says, “What if I say no?”
“Do you understand how important your life is, do you? You can’t run off that way and put yourself at risk, and it’s stupid!”
“I guess we’ll both have to get used to disappointment.”
Walking closer, Joel replies, “What do you want me to do?”
“Just admit it! You’ve wanted to get get rid of me this whole time!”
“Tommy is better in this area—.”
“Screw that,” as she turns away.
“I’m not going to apologize because I trust him better than I do myself! You hear me?”
“What’s the problem? Why are you afraid? Do you think I’ll get infected and end up like Sam? Don’t worry about it. I’m better on my own.”
“What about all the close calls we’ve had so far?”
