The foreman called O’Shaugnessy over as soon as he clocked in and said he had a phone call in the office. He returned with a mournful expression and his head hanging low and his foreman asked if he’d gotten some bad news. “To be sure Boss,” he said. “My mama died this morning.” The foreman replied, “Gosh, that’s terrible, do you want to take the rest of the day off?” “No,” said O’Shaugnessy, “I can finish the day.” A little while later the foreman came again and said there was another call for him. When O’Shaugnessy came back he looked stunned and said, “Golly Boss, it’s even worse! That was by big brother, and he said his mama died today too!”
