Henry Aaron (Former Professional Baseball player)
Known simply as ‘The Hammer’, Henry Louis Aaron played for 23 years in the Major Leagues. Still considered by many as the all-time home run leader, Aaron is one of only two players to hit 30 or more homeruns in a season at least 15 times. He finished his career with 755 home runs.
Born February 5th, 1934, in Mobile, Alabama, Aaron began his professional career in the Negro American League, and minor league baseball prior to starting his major league career.
He was a National League All Star for 20 seasons, and American League All Star for 1 season, from 1955 through 1975. Aaron holds the record for the most seasons as an All Star, and the most All Star game selections at 25.
He also holds major league records for runs batted in, extra base hits, and total bases. In addition, he remains in the top 5 for career hits, runs, at bats, and games played. Three times he won a Gold Glove, and in 1957 was the league’s Most Valuable Player, leading his Milwaukee Brewers to a World Series championship.
