With the mission of connecting creative-media professionals, whether they are in the same city or different parts of the world, Source Elements launched Source-Connect in 2005. We began our journey by offering remote collaboration tools with studio-quality, low-latency, and record-ready audio over the internet. In these early years, being remote was a great challenge for everyone within the voiceover industry. Our goal was to help everyone in audio, and to date, we support thousands of voiceover artists with Source-Connect.

Many years later, connectivity is a standard industry requirement. Though it appears in many forms, we at Source-Connect serve voice actors worldwide thanks to the support of different people from different places, with different religions, genders, places of birth, and economic opportunities: it is part of our DNA to work in a diverse manner.

Diversity in Voiceover

Understandably, individuals from different backgrounds face their own unique challenges as well as opportunities. In the fields of the arts and technology, social inequality in education as well as in the economy leads to unbalanced representation in the job market. It even affects educational opportunities as well as representation on screen too. Remote collaboration tools have proven to be powerful resources to support artists globally. It is an advocate for global warmth and a productive ally for freelancers and businesses. They also improve people’s lives by being able to separate workplace life from daily life and family circumstances.

Diversity Amongst Artists Working Remotely

Remote collaboration is a way of working that expands job opportunities. However, the tools, equipment, and software are not equally accessible to everyone. Good quality, affordable internet services, and studio equipment remain a barrier for some. living in both our chosen locations and locations where we must be for other reasons—migration is sometimes unavoidable due to war, economics, natural disaster, and family commitments. There are many reasons why we might travel or be forced to stay at home. If Remote collaboration tools demand a technical learning curve and initial investment in education and equipment, that is prohibitive to some. The benefits of remote collaboration cannot be shared equally by all.

The audio setup is a critical part of your business. If you want to scale for better sessions, then your studio should be prepared for that. Everything counts towards delivering an amazing take. The more comfortable you feel about your audio setup and software, the better you will transmit everything you want. Be prepared for a long exciting session! Please, always check your internet connection and setup, and you can always do a trial within Source-Connect in our echo channels.
