Voiceover and acting websites for pay-to-play are becoming more popular. Many traditional acting sites have recently adapted, expanded, and implemented voiceover attributes, and many are doing it very well. In this article, we will explore the different pay-to-play sites for voiceover and acting enthusiasts and professionals.

Mandy Acting and Mandy Voiceover and Acting Pay to Play

Mandy, over the years, has evolved and rebranded to take a prominent position within the entertainment industry. Offering a vast variety of work and not isolated strictly to voiceover, Mandy capitalizes on a huge audience of performers paying subscriptions. Performers are not asked to cut their earnings, fortunately. One of Mandy’s unique features is the ability to audition from the browser for any role which requires a self-tape. Mandy allows performers to jump between profiles. For example, if a performer is auditioning for a voiceover job, the platform will prompt them to move over to their voiceover profile to apply. On the same note, the same is true for on-screen work. The platform will prompt the performer to move over to their on-screen profile instead of their voiceover profile.

StarNow Implementing Voiceover

StarNow, like Mandy, has certainly evolved and rebranded over the years. The most significant change in recent times is when Backstage acquired the platform. The two now share the same interface. StarNow does require a subscription from the performer however it does not take a cut of the performers’ earnings afterward. Attracting industry professionals from every corner of the industry, StarNow has a massive net of work. Unlike Mandy, you must upload auditions and self-tapes to the platform; you cannot record them from the browser. StarNow is another platform that permits multiple profiles to correlate with multiple genres of work.

Backstage Voices

I mentioned in the previous paragraph that Backstage acquired StarNow. Interestingly Backstage owns Voice123, StarNow, and Mandy. Backstage is a unique platform that is present globally is massive. Their magazine is formidable globally, and the platform invites much work. In 2022 Backstage opened their voiceover department, ‘Backstage Voices,’ which thus far is going exceptionally well with respect to growth. Similar to the platforms above, the user will have to pay a subscription, but no cut of performers’ earnings will be taken.

Your Voiceover and Acting Pay to Play Choices

Traditionally these three platforms will fall second to platforms like Casting Networks, Actors Access, and Spotlight. This is because they are the three main sites In the USA and UK that agents typically book through and thus host the highest quality of work. That, however, does not mean they won’t bring in massive clients and a good calibre of work. On the same note, we have only just begun to scratch the surface with these sites. Several others have not made the cut in this article based on where they sit in the pecking order. The important thing with this is to make it work for you.
