No one likes the idea of spending money right? The idea of taking on a new time-consuming venture is equally unappealing, isn’t it? So why are you reading this article? I believe it is because you have a passion for voiceover. You may be at the beginning of your voiceover journey or have been at it for a decade, but answering the question, ‘when should I take voiceover classes’, can be a challenge. Knowing how much time to invest or what a good price is can be challenging too. So in this article, we will unpack this and much more.

New Ventures With Classes

Regardless of if you are new to the industry, starting from scratch, or have years of experience behind you, there is a class for everyone. An established artist might be looking to hone in their skills or acquire a new one. A new artist might be looking for a complete and full overview of the industry. There is even the possibility of having something super specific like a voiceover marketing class. Whatever it is, new ventures need to be taken on with excitement to fully engage your brain and maximize your learning journey. If you are looking at it as a burden it might be worth putting it on the shelf until you are feeling more enthusiastic.

Voiceover Classes and Time Consumption

Taking a class consumes time that’s for sure. Whether it’s a two-hour one-time workshop or a multi-month program, carving out time in our busy lives can be difficult. So the big question is how much time should you invest into a class? I think that depends on your purpose. If you’re just looking to stay in shape by honing an already exceptional skill, a one-time coaching session or class will suffice. If you want to learn a completely new genre, start from scratch, or go through a program like marketing 101, you should devote whatever time is necessary to complete the task.

Financial Investment Into Classes

Spending money is easily done but we all have to budget right? Classes are not cheap but are essential to get to where you need to be in voiceover. For example, you won’t be able to work in commercials if you don’t possess the skill and that might cost money. So if you don’t have the money that can be a real problem. So how much should you invest? Well, this depends on the coach and your budget. Some coaches have higher costs due to their position in the industry and skill set whereas others will be cheaper. Truth be told, you might not be able to afford a more expensive cost and might have to go with someone a bit cheaper. Ultimately your budget might dictate how much you spend.

Voiceover Classes Summary

Any amount of time you invest into training is better than nothing. At the same time, any money you can invest into your training is better than nothing. However, if you need to wait a period of time until you have more disposable time and income that might be a good idea. Waiting until your next paycheck arrives so you can afford a slightly stronger coach is another option.
